Question: What is osmotic pressure?
Answer: Osmotic pressure: It is the pressure that a solution develops and exerts to prevent more water molecules from entering it as a result of osmosis.
osmosis is a phenomenon of movement of water molecules from a solution with higher water concentration (lower solute concentration) to a solution with lower water concentration (higher solute concentration) across a semipermeable membrane. The osmotic pressure is higher for a more concentrated solution (it contains a large amount of solute).
Structure of a Lymph Node: It is a kidney or oval-shaped organ of the lymphatic system, and found throughout the body. It plays a major role in the adaptive immune system.
Capsule - Outermost covering made of fibrous connective tissue.
A lymph node is composed of two components stroma and parenchyma. The stroma forms the outermost covering made of fibrous connective tissue called the capsule of the lymph node. The parenchyma consists of an outer cortex and an inner medulla. The fibrous capsule extends from cortex to medulla and form trabeculae. The trabeculae divide the inner substance of the lymph node into compartments called nodules (or lobules). Each nodule consists of a lymphoid follicle. The inner medulla consists of medullary sinus and medullary cords. Lymph enters a lymph node through afferent lymphatic vessels into the medullary sinus, and drain into the efferent lymphatic vessels. Efferent lymphatic vessels leave the lymph node on its concave surface called hilum.
