The PC is not the only device that can connect to an Ethernet network. Do an Internet search or make a run to your local computer store and compile a list of network devices. What did you find? How would they be used?

List of networking devices:-

They can be 3 types:

1. external

2. internal

3. portable devices

External devices

1.swtiches:

It enables networking devices to talk to each other.
pcs, printers, cameras, lights are connected by it only.

2.routers:
It is used when a device in a local area network needs to communicate with a device on another LAN.

It finds the best path between them.

3.hubs:
The device to which all other devices shares a physical network is called a hub.
There are three types of hubs.
1.Active hubs
2. passive hubs
3.intelligent hubs.

4.bridges:
It provides interconnection with other bridge networks which use the same protocol.

5.modems:
they convert digital information of computers into analog signals.

6.wifi-routers:
It is an alike modem.
It has wireless connectivity in addition.
This is called a wifi router.

Internal networking devices:

1. Bluetooth dongle:
It is wireless technology.
It is used to exchange data over a short distance from fixed and mobile devices.

2.network interface controller:
It helps in the function of computers.
Internet connection comes through the NIC card only.

3. wireless network interface controller
It is a network adapter in wireless in which there is no need to plug wire backside on desktop.

portable devices

1. wifi hotspot:

It is a mobile feature.
mobile devices are allowed to access mobile data and use it.

2. portable modem dongle:
There is a pen drive type modem called dongle.
The mobile sim card is inserted in it and plugs into the laptop to use the internet.
