Discuss but no need to submit. In statistics one of the most important distributions is the normal distribution. Why is it so important? A normal distribution with mean mu and variance sigma^2 has this probability distribution function: P(x) = 1/[sigma root (2 pi) ] e^(-(x-mu)^2/[2 sigma^2]).

Calculate [dP(x)]/[dx].

Please explain and show calculations :)

Univariate Gaussians or normal distributions have a simple representation in that they can be completely described by their mean and variance. These distributions are particularly useful because of the central limit theorem, which posits that when a large number of independent random variables are added, the distribution of their sum is approximated by a normal distribution. In other words, normal distributions can be applied to most problems Recall the probability density function of the Univariate Gaussian with mean and variance...

. In probability theory, the Normal Distribution (sometimes called a Gaussian Distribution or Bell Curve) is a very common continuous probability distribution. Normal distributions are important in statistics and are often used in the natural and social sciences to represent real-valued random variables whose distributions are not known. Describing the normal distribution using a mathematical function is called a probability distribution function (PDF) which is given here: H The mean of the distribution ơ-The standard deviation f(x)--e 2σ We can...

Exercise 3: The Normal Distribution. The function NORMDIST(x, mu, sigma, TRUE) computes the probability that a normal observation with a fixed mean (mu) and standard deviation (sigma) is less than x. There is also a function for computing the inverse operation: the function NORM INV(p, mu, sigma) putes a value x such that the probability that a normal observation is less than x is com equal to P. A) Compute the probability that an observation from a N(3, 5) population...

Engineering Statistics. Lab # 2 (chapter 3 Material) Using Minitab to Plot Frequency distribution and calculate Mean, Variance, and Standard Deviation of a general discrete random variable As we discussed in early part of chapter 3 material (Random Variables and Probability distributions), Minitab cannot help you solve general discrete probability problems we have discussed so far, It could be used to graph probability mass distribution and determine mean, Variance, ...of general random variable X when P(x) is given. Suppose you...
