Answer #1

Answer a= Decision variables are stated as below=

x1, x2 , x3 = the number of pounds of ingredient A, B and C for standard fertilizer

x4, x5 , x6 be the number of pounds of ingredient A, B, and C for premium fertilizer

Answer B= The objective function is to minimize the total cost

Min z= 10*(x1+x4) +12*(x2+x5)+18*(x3+x6)

Answer C= The constrants are as below=

x1+x2+x3+x4+x5+x6 \geqslant 500 ( for minimum quantity)

0.3x1+0.3x2+0.4x3\geqslant0.35 ( nitrogen requirement for standard fertilizer)

0.4x4+0.3x5+0.3x6\geqslant0.35 (chlorine requirement for spremium fertilizer)

x1,x2,x3,x4,x5,x6\geqslant0
