Answer #1

_____________________________________________________

Initial velocity u = 80 m / s
final velocity v = 0
time t= 16 s
accleration a = ( v - u ) / t = ( 0 - 80 ) / 16 = - 5 m/s2
_____________________________________________________
from the relation v ^ 2- u^ 2= 2aS
required distance S = [ v^ 2- u^ 2] / 2a = ( 0 - 802 )/ 2* (-5) = 640 m

An airplane reaches its takeoff speed of 60 m/s with constant acceleration in 30 s, starting from rest. The time it takes to go from 40 m/s to 60 m / s is: A car starts moving from rest with an acceleration of 0.40 m/ s2. A minute later the acceleration stops, and the car moves with constant speed for 5.0 minutes. The car's brakes are finally applied and stops in 2.0 minutes slowing evenly. 6. An airplane of mass 80,000 kg travelling at 80 m/s lands on the runway. The plane comes to rest over a distance of 1200 m. The plane uses two mechanisms of force to come to rest. One is the reverse thrust of the engines. The other is the brakes between the tires and the runway. If the thrust of the engines provides twice the force as the brakes, determine the force of each of these forces. (20 points)
