Answer #1

Spec 20 is a spectrophotometer,which measures the intensity of a a light beam before and after it passes through a sample and it compares the two intensities.it also measures the transmittance and absorbance over a range of wavelengths.Spec 20 works under the principle of how much a chemical substance absorbs light by measuring the intensity of light as a beam of light passes through the sample.Absorbtion spectrum can be determined by this technique.It can be applicable to both coloured and colorless compounds.Spectrophotometres measures the absorbance of coloured and colourless compounds.When visible light passes through a coloured solution,some wavelenghts are transmitted and others are absorbed

Spectrometer can be applicable to;

  • colourless  liquids
  • colourless solids
  • coloured liquid
  • Measuring an absorbtion spectrum
  • coloured solids.

    For the preparation and standardization of NaOH with KHP im supposed to boil water for 1hr and 30 min to remove CO2....the problem is that if I don't boil it for that long and (30 min) b/c of not enough time but I put the water I boiled for 1/2 hr aproximately into a NaOH bottle with a CO2 absorber and stored it there for a few days. I would assume that I would have to boil the water again...but...
