a) Fe2O3(s) + 2 Al (s) 2 Fe (s) + Al2O3(s)
Displacement Reaction
This is an example for displacement reaction because O3 was displaced from Fe2 to 2 Al. The reaction is a single displacement reaction as there is only one atom displacement.
b) 2 H2O(l) 2 H2(g) + O2(g)
Decomposition reaction
The reaction is an example for decomposition reaction. Because the water here is completely decomposed into hydrogen and oxygen gases.
c) C3H8(g) + 5 O2(g) 3 CO2(g) + 4 H2O (g)
Combustion Reaction
This is an example reaction. Here the propane gas is burnt under the presence of oxygen. The liberation of carbon dioxide and water vapor from hydrocarbon (propane) indicating that it is a combustion reaction.
d) LiOH (aq) + HNO3(aq) LiNO3(aq) + H2O (l)
Double displacement reaction
This is example of double displacement reaction. In LiOH, OH is replaced by NO3 from HNO3 and likewise, in LiNO3, NO3 is replaced by OH from LiOH. Thus the displacement is done in both LiOH and HNO3 and hence is a double displacement reaction.
