The cross-functional team is made from the people who are working on the same hierarchical level at the different departments they are people with the different skills met to provide a common goal. Today in the technological innovation era a team with hierarchical structure may not be able to serve better and because of the increase in competition among the firm, it is important that firm should be agile enough to take demand, to get this thing done it has become primary for the organization to make a cross-functional team to carry a specific demand of the customer. cross-functional teams can work in unison to resolve a particular issue, make a different customized product, etc all because of superior knowledge which is drawn by the employee having different skill sets. They can collaborate and work toward a common goal. e.g a company wants to deliver better service for a phone so the company makes a team dedicated to resolving the service issue which contains an all the member of the technical service department, customer relation, and sales to work as a team so when a customer calls the team collaboratively resolve the issue and the customer call is not be transferred from one department to another to resolve the issue making better service. also if a company wants to make customized software for monitoring the sales which involve the latest technology like artificial intelligence the team members involved will be from programmers to artificial intelligence engineer and the domain knowledge experts from sales, finance, etc which will deliver a customized product to the customer.
