Answer #1

A. Red region of the spectrum is of low energy. So, the complex whch has lowest energy d-d transition will absorb in red region. According to spectrochemical seriec, the strength of the ligands are CN> NH3> H2O>Cl. Thus with -Cl as ligand the energy gap between the t2g and eg level is smallest. Thus, CuCl4^2- will most likely absorb in red region.

--------------------------------------

B. the compound that look yellow will absorb in violet region. This region is inbetween blue and red region. This means that medium energy light will be absorbed by the compound. Among the four compounds highest energy absorption will be observed with CN^- and lowest energy with Cl^-. Cu(NH3)4^2+ would most likely be yellow.

----------------------------------

c. This is cis isomer as two -NH3 groups are on the same side.
