Psychological attributions of colors can be Red that represents happiness, optimism, strength, passion and warm. Orange represents communication, ambition, generosity and cheerfulness. Colours are an effective and potent way of communication . They communicate messages even when no words are spoken . Let us take red as a colour. It is basically a positive and bright colour which attracts attention. It is attractive to children so a colour of choice for products for children’s use. However red is also used to signify danger or rage . This is a negative emotion. So we have a colour which has both positive and negative connotations. Blue and yellow stand for happiness, sunshine and hope. Green stands for environment. White stands for non-violence. Recognition of colour signals serve as important attributes in various kinds of work . These are specially important in manufacturing, signalling and other industries .

Many people suffer from colour blindness meaning they cannot recognise different colour. Also this ability reduces with age. Since these are required for critical activities it may lead to accidents. It is therefore important for people working in such positions to have their sense of colour in place.
