Answer #1

Tesla’s major market blunder is based on its quality. Tesla has been highly proficient in manufacturing cars that were of high-quality. A good manufacturing organization removes all kinds of wastes (elimination of waste). However, this was the greatest blunder that Tesla had done. Tesla, instead of eliminating redundant processes during their ramping up of manufacturing cars, Tesla started to manufacture from the beginning. This resulted in Tesla manufacturing cars that were of low quality during its initial runs of the cars that Tesla made. Though Tesla had the opportunity to rectify this quality issue before manufacturing Model 3, Tesla still worsened the scenario by passing its quality issues to Model S as well in its initial stages.

An organization to be successful in its manufacturing arena, it is important that the organization adapt quality control measures to avoid any quality issues. However, Tesla failed to do so in its attempt to manufacture electric cars without any quality issues. Due to this, Tesla had to incur additional expenses in replacing and correction of parts that were under warranty. This made Tesla to incur more expenses than the profits. Quality should have been the prime focus for luxury brands however Tesla was known for low level quality for luxury brands thus leading to great damage to its reputation and goodwill.
