This assignment helps you understand Inheritance. We want to create a superclass or parent class called Shape. This shape class will have just one method to setBorderColor. Now we need 3 subclasses that extend the Shape class, Circle, Square and Rectangle. In these classes we will need to compute the area of each of the shapes and print it to the console using System.out.println You will need to take in an additional parameter in each of these subclasses -- side for Square, length and breadth for rectangle and radius for the circle. Finally create a new class called App. You will need to have a main method in this App class that will construct the different shapes and call the computeArea method of each of the shapes to print out the area and call the getBorderColor to print out the border color of each shape.

class App
{
    void calculateArea(float x)
    {
        System.out.println("Area of the square: "+x*x+" sq units");
    }
    void calculateArea(float x, float y)
    {
        System.out.println("Area of the rectangle: "+x*y+" sq units");
    }
    void calculateArea(double r)
    {
        double area = 3.14*r*r;
        System.out.println("Area of the circle: "+area+" sq units");
    }
    public static void main(String args[]){
        JavaExample obj = new JavaExample();

        /* This statement will call the first area() method
         * because we are passing only one argument with
         * the "f" suffix. f is used to denote the float numbers
         *
         */
         obj.calculateArea(6.1f);

         /* This will call the second method because we are passing
          * two arguments and only second method has two arguments
          */
         obj.calculateArea(10,22);

         /* This will call the second method because we have not suffixed
          * the value with "f" when we do not suffix a float value with f
          * then it is considered as type double.
          */
         obj.calculateArea(6.1);
    }
}

This ques is quite unsatisfied it actually don't tell about what the setbordercolor function has to do .

I mostly tried to look at the ques it demands for area of the triangle ,rectangle,circle using subclass unit which i tried to define in the code above by using comments too.

    Java Lab In this lab, you will be implementing the following class hierarchy. Your concrete classes must call the superclass constructor with the proper number of sides (which is constant for each concrete shape). The perimeter method is implemented in the superclass as it does not change based on the number of sides. The area method must be overridden in each subclass as the area is dependent on the type of polygon. The areas of an equilateral triangle, square, and...
