B, C, E: the "Most constraining variable" strategy to pick which variable to explore, the "lease constraining value" strategy to pick which value to assign first to a given variable.
Most Contraining variable strategy is used to assign the variable that is most likely to cause failure first in a branch assigned value. Since that variable will fail at some point so if we find that out at the start then it will make the search efficient.
Least Constraining value strategy helps pick the value first to assign as it leaves maximal flexibility.

Constraint Propagation helps to reduce the number of legal values of a variable which helps reduce legal value for other variable hence improving the search.
