Write the balanced chemical equation for the reaction: Magnesium metal reacts with aqueous hydrochloric acid (HCI) to produce hydrogen gas (Ha) and aqueous magnesium chloride (MgCa). 2. Read through this experiment carefully. Underline every sentence that instructs you to make a measurement Part A. Data Collection 1. Obtain a piece of magnesium ribbon approximately 3 cm long. Measure the length of the ribbon carefully to the nearest 0.01cm. Your instructor will give you the mass of 1 m of ribbon. Since it is uniform in thickness, you can calculate the mass of the magnesium used 2. Fold the magnesium ribbon so that it can be encased in a small spiral cage made of fine copper wire (Figure 1). Let enough copper wire serve as a handle so that the cage can rest at the 50mL mark of the gas measuring tube. Mg/HC
