Suppose you are given data from a survey showing the IQ of each person interviewed and the IQ of his or her mother. That is all the information that you have. Your boss has asked you to put together a report showing the relationship between these two variables. What could you present and why? Also  make sure your post includes something about regression.. emember that a best fit line gives an approximation based on the data you have, this does not imply causation. Because there is a correlation between IQ's does not tell you why or that it is caused by something (causation)

Suppose we are interested in the effect of drinking on student achievement. We survey students at the University of Rhode Island about their drinking habits - the number of times they “binge” drank (had 5+ drinks in one sitting) in the previous semester - and their previous semester’s GPA. We also have data on their gender, race, parent’s education, and family income. If we estimate the following regression: GP Ai = β0 + β1BingeEventsi + γXi + i Where GP...

Suppose you are interested in estimating how health affects productivity. Specifically, you are interested in the following regression: where Y, is a variable representing the income earned by person i, and X, is a variable representing the health of person i. Income is a fairly straightforward concept to capture. Health, however, is a more complex concept that can be measured in many different ways. For example, body mass index (BMI weight in kilograms, divided by height in meters squared) is...

    4) You have obtained a sub-sample of 1744 individuals from the Current Population Survey (CPS) and are interested in the relationship between weekly earnings and age. The regression, using heteroskedasticity-robust standard errors, yielded the following results: EARN= 239.16 + 5.20×Age , R2 = 0.05, SER = 287.21., (20.24) (0.57) where Earn and Age are measured in dollars and years respectively. The Book of R (Question 20.2) Please answer using R code. Continue using the survey data frame from the package MASS for the next few exercises. The survey data set has a variable named Exer , a factor with k = 3 levels describing the amount of physical exercise time each student gets: none, some, or frequent. Obtain a count of the number of students in each category and produce side-by-side boxplots of student height split by exercise. Assuming independence...
