Answer #1

ANSWER: you would expect volume of gas will decrease.

Given

Initial temperature of a gas = T 1= 273 K

Final temperature of a gas =T 2 = 250 K

Initial volume of a gas =V 1 = 10.0 L

Final volume of a gas =V 2 = ?

Pressure of gas is a constant = 5 atm

We know that, Charle's law can be stated as at constant pressure , volume of the given mass of the gas is directly proportional to absolute temperature.

V T

From this , we can write

V 1 / T 1 = V 2 / T 2

10.0 L / 273 K = V 2 / 250 K

V 2 =  (10.0 L / 273 K ) x 250 K

V 2 = 9.16 L
