Single Sign-On has both advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of SSO include reduced password fatigue, reduced time entering credentials across multiple systems, reduced IT help desk costs from password reset and centralized auditing of authentication activity. The primary disadvantage is that the failure of security of the SSO credentials can result in the loss of the “keys to the kingdom” (that is, all of the user’s connected accounts).

SSO is defined as Single sign on that means you have to sign on only once and you can access different applications using that single sign in details.The best example to this google mail,when we login into google mail ,we can access google docs,google drive,google photos,maps etc.

Single sign have both its advantages and disadvantages.I will explain both of them.

Advantages:

1.First advantage is the ease of access different accounts for user.As user have one account to access many applications,this saves user login multiple times to access different applications.

2.No need to remember multiple passwords.

3.Reduces the work of IT Helpdesk as there will be less requests to change password.

4.Simplifies the storage structure of password and username.

Disadvantages:

1.If Single sign on is not implemented properly,then all data will be lost.

2.If SSO goes down connections to all sites will be lost.

3.If by mistake someone hacks your password that person can access all your accounts.

4.Banks and Healthcare fields which maintains highly secured data will never go for this.

5.We have to work more on password to make it more strong otherwise one can easily hack.
