According to the Damon Yogurt Company a cup of their vanilla yogurt is supposed to have an average of 150 calories. Consumer Reports decided to test to see whether this was true or whether the average was greater than 150 calories.

a) What would be the null and alternative hypothesis for testing whether a cup of Damon vanilla yogurt contains an average of 150 calories or more than 150 calories?

b) Calculate the P-Value if a random sample of 35 cups of Damon yogurt is taken and the sample average is found to be 151.39 calories with a standard deviation of 6.47 calories.

c) What conclusion would you make using an alpha level of .05? (State your conclusion in terms of the problem)

Alternative Hypothesis, Ha: μ > 150

t = (xbar - mu)/(s/sqrt(n))
t = (151.39 - 150)/(6.47/sqrt(35))
t = 1.271

P-value Approach
P-value = 0.1062

c)


As P-value >= 0.05, fail to reject null hypothesis.
There is not sufficient evidence to conclude that a cup of Damon vanilla yogurt contains an average of 150 calories or more than 150 calories
