Explain one downfall of a NIDS/NIPS device?
1. The NIDS/NIPS devices cannot process encrypted packets. So intruders can use them to slip into the network. An NIDS devices cannot detect this intrusions untill they are deeper into the network.
2.The NIDS devices works till the signature database updates frequently. If the database is outdated then it is to get into network for attackers. So it is another issue that your systems are vulnerable until a new threat has been added to the signature library , so the latest attacks will always be a big concern to NIDS devices.
What is the difference between a network intrusion detection system (NIDS) and a network intrusion prevention system (NIPS)? a. There is no difference; a NIDS and a NIPS are equal. b. A NIPS can take actions more quickly to combat an attack. c. A NIDS provides more valuable information about attacks. d. A NIPS is much slower because it uses protocol analysis.
After a security review, it is recommended that your organization install a network intrusion prevention stem (NIPS). Based on the current budget, your manager recommends that you install a less-costly network detection system (NIDS). What is the primary security difference between a network intrusion detection system (NIDS) and a network intrusion prevention system (NIPS) that you can use to justify the additional costs? Explain how the difference is a positive or a negative in terms of security.

A device consists of two redundant subunits; only one needs to be working for the device to function. The first subunit has two parts Wi and W2, and the second has two parts Ws and Ws. In identical and equally reliable, with probability p-09of fuctoning. (a) What is the overall probability the device functions correctly? (b) Suppose you have available two ultra-reliable parts, each with p 0.99 of working. 2. Which two parts in the device should you replace with...
Give a specific example of an everyday device for which one might want to insert a rectifier circuit (like the one pictured), rather than directly powering the device from a wall socket. Explain why this would be a good thing to do. XFG XEG1
2. A device consists of two redundant subunits; only one needs to be working for the device to function. The first subunit has two parts Wi and W2, and the second has two parts Ws and W4. In each subunit, both parts must function for the subunit to work. The four parts are independent, identical and equally reliable, with probability p 0.9 of functioning. (a) What is the overall probability the device functions correctly? (b) Suppose you have available two...
