Vacation Booking Agency

The following data model is designed to hold information relating to vacation booking database. For this scenario we need to define the following facts:

These facts define the requirements which the Database must meet and should be agreed between the Database User and the Database Designer prior to physical creation.

Assuming that the booking needs to be helped by an agent from an vacation booking company, the Entities required should include:

• Customers
• Vacation Packages available
• Vacation Booking agents
• Vacation Package details (resort name, airlines used, etc.)
• Booking activity information (dates, price, duration, etc.)

The Entities are related as follows:

• A Customer may have information such as address, phone, DOB, etc.
• There are many different kinds of vacation packages available
• There may be many agents in the vacation booking company
• An agent may help many customers in booking
• A Customer can book multiple vacation packages at the same or different times
• A vacation package may be booked by many.

When asking questions of the database we may need to know:

1. Who booked which vacation package with which agent?
2. Does the company have a kind of vacation package to a certain resort?
3. Who booked a certain vacation package that uses a certain airline?

1. Create an E/R diagram capturing the objects and relationships described

above. Describe all your design choices and constraints. Please use the

notation for E/R diagrams introduced in the course. Rubrics used will be similar to the homework Rubrics for grading. (15 pts)
