The difference between mid-latitude cyclones and the tropics cyclones are as follows :-
- Mid-latitude cyclones are cold cored while tropical cyclone are warm cored.
- Mid-latitude cyclones have peak winds near the tropopause in jet streams while tropical cyclone have peak winds near the surface.
- Mid-latitude cyclones intensify over land, however intensity of tropical cyclone weaken rapidly over land.
- Mid-latitude cyclones cannot transform into tropical cyclone of higher wind speed while tropical cyclone may transform into mid-latitude cyclones at high altitude.
