Gas tanks have a fuel level sensor to indicate how much fuel is in the tank. Is this sensor a
transducer? Explain your answer.
Fuel level sensor used in automobiles consist basically of two systems as listed - sensing system and indicating system.
The sensing system includes float, actuating rod and a variable resistor. One end of the variable resistor is attached to ground via wiper, now this variable resistor senses the fluctuation of the level of the fuel by means of float , and due to this variation- voltage is generated into the system and reading is shown by indicating unit.In some indicating system ,electronic indicator is replaced by mechanical gauge.
In some cases ultrasonic sensors are used which senses fluctuation based on height sensed by the sensor, Based on application different sensing elements are used, but function remains same.hence, this sensor can be said as transducer because here one form of energy is converted into another form, as for the purpose of control and measurement .

1)Two rigid tanks of equal size and shape are filled with different gases. The tank on the left contains oxygen, and the tank on the right contains hydrogen. Assume both gases are ideal. The molar masses of oxygen and hydrogen are 32 and 2, respectively. Both containers are at the same temperature. A pressure gauge is pin oxygen hydrogen connected to each tank. Both gauges show a reading of 230 kPa. Is the number of oxygen molecules in the left...

Fuel Tanks divided into compartments or baffles installed in them helps a. as a failsafe system to avoid the fuel from leaking b. to keep a reserve for further flight in case the pump fails c. to keep the fuel from surging back and forth as aircraft changes its attitude in flight. d. none of the mentioned. 3. What does integral fuel tank mean? a. The tank is part of the structure with seams and joints sealed...
Four large tanks at a chemical plant contain different liquids being bested. Liquid-level sensors are used to detect whenever the level in thanks A and B rises. Above a predetermined level Temperature sensor in tanks C and D detect when the temperature in these drops below a prescribed temperature limit. Assume that the liquid-level sensor outputs(A and B)are LOW (0) when the level is satisfactory and HIGH(1)when the level is too high. Also, the temperature-sensor outputs (C and D)are LOW(0)when...
Be sure to answer all parts. To study a key fuel-cell reaction, a chemical engineer has 20.0-L tanks of Њ and of 02 and wants to use up both tanks to form 25.5 mol of water at 23.8°C (a) Use the ideal gas law to find the pressure needed in each tank. atm H2 atm O2 (b) Use the van der Waals equation to find the pressure needed in each tank. atm H2 atm O, Be sure to answer all...
Although gas station owners lock their tanks at night, a gas station owner in your neighborhood was the victim of theft because his employee had a key to the tank. The owner of the gas station wants to bury the gasoline so deep that no vacuum pump, no matter how powerful, will be able to extract it. He has hired you as a general contractor to dig the holes for the tanks. What is the minimum depth needed for the...

2. You have a 2 m' tank of gas A with density 1 kg/m and a 2 m'tank of gas B with density 3 kg/m'. The tanks are at the same pressure. You join the tanks to make a 4 m tank, and let the gases mix. a. What are the specific volumes of gas A and B initially? b. What is the specific volume of the mixed gas? c. What is the density of the mixed gas? Hint: Think...
Imagine that you have a 5.50 L gas tank and a 2.00 L gas tank. You need to fill one tank with oxygen and the other with acetylene to use in conjunction with your welding torch. If you fill the larger tank with oxygen to a pressure of 145 atm , to what pressure should you fill the acetylene tank to ensure that you run out of each gas at the same time? Assume ideal behavior for all gases. Butane,...
