So far your TestEqual functions have tested values but haven't made any changes...

  • Q: If you changed one of the variable values in your function, would it change the value of the variable in main? Why?
  • Q: What are the two options for passing parameters into a function? (by _________ and by __________) What's the difference?
  • Write a new function, MakeEqual, that takes two integers and if they are not equal (tested using your TestEqual function), displays a message and sets the first parameter to have the same value as the second parameter. Update main so that after prompting the user for two numbers it calls  MakeEqual and then display the variables.
  • In C++ please.

This is what I have so far:

bool TestEqual (int x, int y)

{

   return ( x == y);

}

int main()

{

   int num1;

   int num2;

   cout << "Enter the first number: ";

   cin >> num1;

cout << "Enter the second number: ";

cin >> num2;

if (TestEqual (num1, num2) == true)

{

   cout << "The two numbers are equal!" << endl;

}

else

{

   cout << "The two numbers are not equal!" << endl;

}

return 0;

}

Answer 1: No
as we are passing the values by call by values.. changes made to the actual paramters will have not impact on actual parameters

Answer 2:
call by value : changes made to the actual paramters will not have impact on actual parameters
call by reference : changes made to the actual paramters will have impact on actual parameters

#include <iostream>

using namespace std;
bool TestEqual (int x, int y)

{

return ( x == y);

}
void MakeEqual(int &a,int &b){
cout<<"\n";
if(TestEqual(a,b))
cout<<a<<" and "<<b<<" are equal\n";
else{
cout<<a<<" and "<<b<<" are not equal\n";
a=b;
}
if(TestEqual(a,b))
cout<<a<<" and "<<b<<" are equal ";

}

int main()

{

int num1;

int num2;

cout << "Enter the first number: ";

cin >> num1;

cout << "Enter the second number: ";

cin >> num2;

MakeEqual(num1,num2);

return 0;

}

    I'm kind of new to programming, and I am having trouble figuring out why my program isn't running. Below is the code that I wrote for practice. I will comment where it says the error is. So the error that I'm getting is "error: no match for 'operator>>' (operand types are 'std::istream {aka std::basic_istream<char>}' ". I'm not sure why I'm getting this because I added the library <iostream> at the top. Thank you. Code: #include <iostream> using namespace std; class...

    6. (Short answer) The C++ code below is very close to working, but, as written, won't compile. When trying to compile, the compiler generates a number of errors similar to "cout' was not declared in this scope."
