Many process improvement tools can be used in our personal lives. Develop a check sheet to record "defects" you have in your personal life (such as overeating, being rude, not meeting commitments, missing classes, etc.). Use a check sheet to keep a record of these "defects" for one month. Use a Pareto chart to analyze these data. What are the underlying causes of these "defects"?
I am unsure of what this means exactly, if you could please provide an example with defects of being lazy, overeating, and sleeping in, it would be greatly appreciated.
Check sheet is a kind of Data Collection method in order to analyse it later.
The assignment is all about recording your defects and then analysing it in a later stage
Your personal defects can be anything.
Take for example one of your personal defect is being lazy, then you need to analyse the cause for being lazy like shown in the below example for a month.
Say from March 1st. Keep saying yes or no for the reasons being lazy.
At a later stage when you find the exact reason for being lazy, then you can try to improve the same.
Defects | Cause of defects | March 1st | March 2nd |
Being lazy | Getting up late in the morning | yes | no |
Getting late to college
Do not feel like cooking
Skipping breakfast | |||
Postponing doing assignments |
Likewise you can pick any reason and analyse the root cause.
