Determine the number of machines to be assigned to an operator.
The setup time is 2.5 mins and the run time is 6 mins. Machine can run automatically without supervision.
Assume walking time is negligible between the machines.
Operator rate is $20/hour and machine rate is $50/hour. Draw the multiple activity chart and show the two appropriate combinations of the assignment.
Use the formula done in class to determine the two appropriate combinations of machines per operator. Formula is n=(l+m)/(l) . n is number of machines, l is operator total loading and unloading time, and m is total machine running time.

In the molding shop, there are 11 machines capable of molding the one part done in-house, but historically one machine is always being maintained or repaired at any given time. Each machine requires a full-time operator who earns an hourly wage of $15, though only 50 minutes of a molding operator's typical hour is occupied with the tasks of loading, unloading, actively monitoring, and adjusting the machine. The machines can each produce 25 parts per hour. The workers will work...
