Answer #1

The trans Atlantic slave trade started with Portuguese .merchants. They would bring African slaves for sugar plantation. They were followed by the British and French traders. America joined later. Mainly the demand of labor in New America resulted the slave trade in America. The business competition in Europe and the spread of global business quickened the slave trading. At first the traders would purchase slave. But later the slaves would be forcefully imported. For the fear of torture and captivity the slaves were forced to come.

Due to the slave trade, the economy of Africa and Europe changed rapidly. It was devastating to the African economy. The slaves would be brought from Africa. In the Caribbean land there were many places where the whole population became almost zero. These places became uncultivated for the lack of labor. So it was a great economic blow to the African economy. On the other hand industrialization spread and the shortage of labor was no more there. The European traders got an international market. So the economy of Europe developed rapidly.

The slave trading is a barbaric chapter and the example of great inhumanity in the world history. Children, women, aged people and even pregnant women would not be spared. It was a calamity of culture and tradition to the black people. They became rootless. They lost their homeland and led very painful life in Europe and New America. They had no right of living. Numerous slaves died prematurely. They would be treated brutally. It is a shocking matter that a large number of slaves died during voyaging and they would be kept in the lower deck like beasts. They would not provided food and water.

Slave trading had a great social effect. There were many places in Europe and New America where black people were in majority. Gradually they became part of the national population. They developed their own culture. They had to suffer a lot of torture from the white masters. But many social organizations and conscious people fought for the liberty of slaves. However, the slave trade and their living with white gave birth of racism. So, slave trading was a major factor for the origin and spread of racism.
