Calcium is a bivalent molecule having oxidation state +2. It generally forms ionic compound due to its less cjarge to size ratio. Thus in solod state, Ca tends to form Ionic bonds with anions like CaCO3, CaS etc. When these compounds go into solution due to their Strong ionic character, easily get disaolved in water.
