It has more than 11700 stores. Walmart has become world's largest retailer. It has highest sales, inventory and operating profit. Walmart provides quality products at cheaper prices.
Walmart's International Supply chain management - Walmart operates in around 28 countries. Its supply chain management is biggest success. Walmart started a supply chain initiative, that is called, "Vendor managed inventory". Manufacturers keep their inventory of goods in Walmart's warehouse, due to this practice Walmart got 100% order fulfillment.
Walmart gets products at best price from vendors and suppliers. Company maintains strategic partnership with its vendors and suppliers. It pays them timely. Walmart says, 'The consistency of getting orders and timely fulfillment cannot be possible without good supplier". Company has opened its distribution centers at many places. It has 130 distribution centers within 130 miles of their stores.
Logistics- Walmart has adopted "Cross Docking" practice. In this practice, inventory that is brought in the arriving trucks, directly shifted to the departing trucks which saves time in transit and cost as well. Cross docking system reduces the inefficiencies and transport time.
Company has invested into advance inventory technology, company spent $10 Billion on information technology and e-commerce capability.
