A researcher proposes that if a product package is red, attitudes towards the product will be different than they are with the current blue package. Hence, he decides to conduct a test across two groups. He packages some products with his proposed red dominant packaging and some with the current blue package. He surveys 164 people about the red package and calculates that people respond 4.5 (on an interval scale of 1 to 5) about how much they like the product, with a standard deviation of .5. He surveys 164 people about the blue package and calculates that people respond 4.0 (on an interval scale of 1 to 5) about how much they like the product, with a standard deviation of .4. Is the red package more effective? Run an analysis at the .05 level of significance. (Z critical = ±1.96)
