can someone help me I have a question similar to this and I am completely lost. How do you determine the between vs within groups?
Three sets of three mice were randomly selected to be placed in a standard maze but with different color doors. The response is the time required to complete the maze as seen in the table below. Perform appropriate analysis to test whether there is an effect due to door coloring.

The summary statistics obtained from the given data are as below.
No Music | Soft Rock | Classical | |
Total | 30 | 58 | 19 |
n | 3 | 3 | 3 |
Mean | 10.00 | 19.33 | 6.33 |
Sum Of Squares | 2 | 8.67 | 4.67 |
The Hypothesis:
H0: There is no difference between the means of the timings for the three colored doors.
Ha: The mean of at least one time is different from the others..
________________________________________________
The ANOVA table is as below. the p value is calculated for F = 52.97 for df1 = 2 and df2 = 6
The Fcritical is calculated at = 0.05 (default level) for df1 = 2 and df2 = 6
Source | DF | SS | Mean Square | F | Fcv | p |
Between | 2 | 269.55 | 134.78 | 52.97 | 5.143 | 0.0002 |
Within | 6 | 15.27 | 2.54 | |||
Total | 8 | 284.82 |
The Decision Rule:
If Ftest is > F critical, Then Reject H0.
Also if p-value is < , Then reject H0.
The Decision:
Since Ftest (52.97) is > F critical (5.143), We Reject H0.
Also since p-value (0.0002) is < (0.05, default), We Reject H0.
The Conclusion: There is sufficient evidence at the 95% level of significance to conclude that the mean of at least one time is different from the others.

Calculations For the ANOVA Table:
Overall Mean = Average of Means = (10 + 19.33 + 6.33) / 3 = 11.89
SS treatment = SUM [n* ( - overall mean)2] = 3 * (10 - 11.89)2 + 3 * (19.33 - 11.89)2 + 3 * (6.33 - 11.89)2 = 269.55
df1 = k - 1 = 3 - 1 = 2
MSTR = SS treatment/df1 = 269.55 / 2 = 134.78
SSWithin = SUM (Sum of Squares) = 2 + 8.67 + 4.67 = 15.27
df2 = N - k = 9 - 3 = 6
Therefore MS within = SSwithin/df2 = 15.27 / 6 = 2.54
F = MSTR/MSE = 134.78 / 2.54 = 52.97

Please explain how I solve this? I am lost. 0 1 An experiment was conducted to determine if experience has an effect on the time it takes for mice to run a maze. Four treatment groups, consisting of mice having been trained on the 2 maze one, two, three, and four times were run through the maze and their times recorded. Three mice were orginally assigned to each group, but it was discovered that some lab assistants, in 3 an...

I am working on a statistical problem where I have to interpret a single factor ANOVA test that has a 95% confidence Interval. The ANOVA analysis was made up of this data: This is the ANOVA data analysis generated from the data above: Questions: 1. What is the null hypothesis for an ANOVA test? 2. Do the 4 box designs produce the same mean compressive strength? 3. Provide 2 specific statistical comparisons and describe how you established your conclusion. Be...
A trial evaluated the fever-inducing effects of three substances. Study subjects were adults seen in an emergency room with diagnoses of the flu and body temperatures between 100.0 and 100.9ºF. The three treatments (aspirin, ibuprofen and acetaminophen) were assigned randomly to study subjects. Body temperatures were reevaluated 2 hours after administration of treatments. The below table lists the data. Data Table: Decreases in body temperature (degrees Fahrenheit) for each patient Mean Group 1 (aspirin) 0.95 1.48 1.33 1.28 1.26 Group...
I have an assignment that I don't fully understand. I'm working on it, but I'd like some help. I was given the following information: -20 Subjects, randomly and evenly assigned to assigned to 4 groups. Each group was given an amount of time to master a certain task(4 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours, 40 hours). The mean of their errors after 200 hours were: Group 1, 42 errors. group 2 40, group 3 34, group 4 33. I was then...

Kevin Conn, Sales Director, feels that the style (color scheme, graphics, fonts, etc.) of a website may affect its sales.
