Keisha poked herself with a prickle while picking blackberries. "Ouch!" Keisha exclaimed as she quickly pulled her hand back. No blood appeared. Later, her finger still felt sensitive. She looked to see if there was a splinter of the prickle left in her finger, and realized she couldn't quite localize exactly where the pain originated (very close, but not exactly), so it took her a while to find the tiny splinter. The pain receptor in her finger synapsed with an interneuron in her spinal cord, which activated a lower motor neuron to contract her brachialis muscle. While that was happening, her brain was scrambling to figure out how to keep her balanced as she pulled away. To do that, it needed to know her position in space and body parts in relation to each other. Which part of her brain was LEAST involved in this planning?

Answer #1

Option d )Epithalamus

All others helps in the Planning to  keep her balanced as she pulled away

Cerebellum controls balance, movement, and coordination (how your muscles work together).

Basal ganglia  has two parts – the pars compacta (SNc) and the pars reticulata (SNr). Substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) however, produces the neurotransmitter dopamine, which is very significant in maintaining balance in the striatal pathway.

The premotor cortex appears to be involved in the selection of appropriate motor plans for voluntary movements, whereas the primary motor cortex is involved in the execution of these voluntary movements. Premotor cortex neurons signal the preparation for movement.

The function of the epithalamus is to connect the limbic system to other parts of the brain. Some functions of its components include the secretion of melatonin and secretion of hormones from pituitary gland by the pineal gland circadian rhythms), and regulation of motor pathways and emotions. This is not involved in the balncing of body.
