Addition of hydrogen halides (HCl, HBr ,HI ) to alkenes takes place as per Markonikov'e rule according to the addition of halo anion to double bond takes place such that more stable carbocation formation took place .

Or simply , anion of halogen acid (Cl^- , Br^- or I^- etc) goes to that double bonded carbon of alkene which have more carbons directly attach with .
