Hospitality industry: One part of the service industry is the hospitality industry. It's primary goal is to provide satisfaction to customers. It's major services include travel & tourism, lodging, food and beverages. It aims at providing the best comfort and well being of the people.

The hotel industry in recent times has inclined to a great extent towards society’s needs and demands. It has adapted to many of these (technological, economical and social) developments and has successfully become a branch of the economy.

Today managing a hotel requires appropriate qualification and extensive knowledge of hospitality management. Digital marketing, business and revenue management are very essential to be successful in this industry.

Recent trends:

1. Organic food stuffs: Restaurants are emphasizing a lot on vegan products, vegetarian/organic options, keeping in mind changing customer preferences and healthy lifestyle.

2. Tech-savvy devices: Hotels are making sure that all internet based devices (like video calling and conference call devices) are updated and the tech support staff is knowledgeable as customers today are self reliant and a lot more dependent on the mobile phone apps.

3. Online services: There is a great expansion the online services offered by this industry. They have improved the system of distribution channels.

4. Social media promotions: Digital media is on the rise. There is a lot of importance given to online marketing and promotion tools, constant surveys and feedback taken, check-ins are encouraged. Frequent changes being made in website and other advertising tools.
