When Joe, an atheist, wishes to work rather than attend a fifteen minute weekly religious service at work, his boss, Ann, says he cannot. Joe threatens to file a claim for religious discrimination, but Ann tells him such a claim is baseless because he is an atheist. Is Ann correct? Why? Why not?

Ann is wrong. Even though Joe is an atheist, the company is asking him to attend a religious service that he doesn't want to attend. By forcing religious beliefs that a person doesn't share, the company is discriminating against Joe on the basis of his religious beliefs or the lack of it.

Therefore, he can file a claim for religious discrimination. All Joe needs to prove in the court is how the company is forcing religious beliefs upon him even though he is an atheist.
