The reaction between calcium and iodine reacts, the product is calcium iodide i.e. CaI2. Now the number of calcium ions are given here, so the moles of calcium ions present in the sample , (since 1 mol of calcium ion means calcium ions) = 1.5756. Thus moles of iodide ions present in the sample will be = 1.5756*2 = 3.15125 moles, since per sample has calcium to iodide ions ratio = 1:2.
