A unidirectional continuous fibre reinforced composite is to be manufactured so that the fibres carry 90% of a load in the longitudinal direction. The moduli of elasticity of the fibre and matrix materials are 125 GPa and 2.6 GPa respectively.

Determine: i) The volume fraction of fibres that will be required

ii) The longitudinal and transverse elastic moduli of the resulting composite.
