You have a formal event to attend, and you do not know what to wear. You don’t have time to go shopping at the mall or borrow someone else’s outfit for the occasion. Looking in your closet you notice that you have a blue jacket, a white jacket, and a black jacket that you could wear. You also have dress shirts in red, black, powder blue, pink, white, and blue. You have a choice of wearing black, white, navy blue, or khaki pants. Lastly your choice of dress shoes consists of brown, black, or white. Ignoring ALL fashion rules how many total outfit choices do you have available if you chose a jacket, shirt, pants, and shoes?

Answer #1

This is a good question. To answer it we must count the number of items we have of each kind:-

Jacket - 3

Shirt - 6

Pants - 4

Shoes - 3

Number of ways in which we can select a jacket, shirt, pants, and shoes

Hence there are total 216 outfit choices which is a lot!
