Jonathan, A racing horse, used to be the best of them all. However, in the summer of 2015, he suffered an accident with his rival horse, Dio, and now his front right leg is permanently injured. He can still run, but he had to quit racing since he can now only jump over hurdles 70% of the time. One day, his trainer notices Jonathan whining, while looking longingly at the track. His trainer sees this and understands immediately: Jonathan wants to race one more time. He’s getting old, and he’s lived almost all of his life racing. He wants to run on that track one last time. As the trainer unlocks his stable, Jonathan immediately bolts out to the track. There are 3 hurdles on the track, left from Joseph’s practice earlier in the morning. What is the probability that Jonathan can jump over all 3 of the hurdles?

Answer #1

The probability that Jonathon can jump over all the 3 hurdles = Probability of jumping over 1st hurdle x Probability of jumping over 2nd hurdle x Probability of jumping over 3rd hurdle

= 0.7 x 0.7 x 0.7

= 0.343

WHEN 19-YEAR-OLD MICHAEL Dell began selling personal computers out of his college dorm room in 1984, few would have bet on his chances for success. In those days, most computer makers sold their PCs through an extensive network of all-powerful distributors and resellers. Even as the fledgling Dell Computer Corporation began to grow, competitors and industry insiders scoffed at the concept of mail-order computer marketing. PC buyers, they contended, needed the kind of advice and hand-holding that only full-service channels...
