A sample of 70 women is obtained, and their heights (in inches) and pulse rates (in beats per minute) are measured. The linear correlation coefficient is 0.259 and the equation of the regression line is , where x represents height. The mean of the 70 heights is 63.5 in and the mean of 70 pulse rates is 75.1 beats per minute. Find the best predicted pulse rate of a woman who is 67 in tall. Use a significance level of α = 0.01.

Answer #1

ANSWER::

note: in question there is no Equation of the regression line please correct it

Equation of the regression line is

y^ = 18.4 + 0.880 x

The best predicted pulse rate of a woman who is 67 in tall is

X = 67

y^ = 18.4 + 0.880 x

y^ = 18.4 + 0.880 *67

y^ = 18.4 + 58.96

y^ = 77.4
