This is important because of the security concern in the business so that it could allow legitimate access to the premises, assets or data. It helps in granting the automated access of the employees to sensitive information formally.

How does it differ from the clearance process? :

Personal Screening granted to the individuals , it has no relationship with Reliability Status and Confidentiality. Whereas Clearance process completely depends upon Reliability Status, Confidentiality, Secret and Top Secret.
