Answer #1

Answer

we know that power = 1 - beta

where beta is the probability of type II error

Power for researcher A is

Power = 1 - beta

= 1-0.20

= 0.80 or 80%

Power for researcher B is

Power = 1 - beta

= 1-0.40

= 0.60 or 60%

Therefore, it is clear that the researcher A has more power to detect an effect as compared to the researcher B because the power to detect an effect is higher for researcher A as compared to researcher B
