A student is writing a test and has to choose one answer from 4 when answering each question. The probability the student knows the answer is 0.7. If he does not know the answer, he randomly chooses any answer. What is the probability that the student knew the answer under the condition that the answer given by student was correct?

Answer #1

Bayes' theorem: P(A | B) = P(A & B) / P(B)

P(student knew the answer) = 0.7

P(student didn't know the answer) = 1 - 0.7 = 0.3

P(answer is correct) = P(student knew the answer and answer was correct) + P(student didn't know the answer and answer was correct)

= 0.7x1 + 0.3x(1/4)

= 0.775

P(student knew the answer | answer was correct) = P(student knew the answer and answer was correct) / P(answer was correct)

= 0.7/0.775

= 0.9032

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ANSWER THIS! ONLY THIS INFORMATION IS GIVEN!!! Problem 7. A test contains n = 3 true or false questions. Any given student answers each question correctly with a certain probability called the "success rate"), independently acorss questions. In the class, 80% of the students know the materials quite well and have a success rate of p1 = 0.9, so the number of correct answers they get follows Bn, Pı). Suppose that each student has probability p of correctly answering a question chosen at random from a universe of possible questions. (A strong student has a higher p than a weak student.) The correctness of answers to different questions are independent. Jodi is a good student for whom p = 0.82. Use 4 decimal places. A nationwide school examination in history included several multiple-choice questions. Each question had 4 possible answers, only one of which was correct. In a sample of 1000 students from more than 100000 students who participated in the test it was found that 38% answered the first multiple- choice question correctly.
