The most prominent line in the atomic spectrum of mercury is at 253.652nm. Other lines are located at 365.015 nm, 404.833 nm, and 1013.975nm. Answer and explain Which of these lines represents the highest energy light and what is the frequency of the most prominent line?

As we Know,

Energy (E) = hc/wavelength

Means lower the wavelength,higher will be energy.so line with wavelength 253.652 nm has highest energy.

Frequency of most predominant line = c/wavelength

Frequency = 3.0×108/253.652×10-9

Frequency = 1.18×1015 hz
