Exercise 4.6 from Richard Wolfson's Energy, Environment, and Climate

(a) Calculate the energy needed to bring a cup of water (about 250 g) from 10 degrees C to the boiling point. Then find the time it takes to heat this water (b) in a 900 W microwave oven that transfers essentially all of its microwave energy into the water and (c) in a 1 kg aluminum pan sitting on a 1500 W electric stove burner that transfers 75% of its energy output to the water and the pan. Assume the pan, too, starts at 10 degrees C and has to be heated to water's boiling point.
