  • A physical change is a process that does not involve change in the chemical composition of the components of a system and hence its properties remain the same.
  • A chemical change is defined as a process which involves change in the bonding pattern of the atoms and therefore change in the chical properties.

All the steps given here are chemical changes, since each involves the formation of a new substance that has different properties than the substances it comes from.
