Imagine that you are the (now former) CEO (Marissa Mayer) of Yahoo! and wish to eliminate telecommuting (listen to audio clips if you haven’t done so already). Choose 2 sub-steps (e.g., forming a coalition, aligning people and systems) and provide a detailed explanation of how you would manage the change at each of these steps.

If I wish to eliminate telecommuting -This is an odd way forward, not just in the world of work in general where telecommuting is rapidly on the rise, but particularly in computer, engineering, and science fields where home-based work has risen 69% between 2000 and 2010. That makes it the fastest growing telecommuting industry in the country, according the Census Bureau. Elimination happens at companies where market performance is an issue or revenues are down, where there have already been layoffs, or where there's a real problem with managerial practices,"But it's usually never about telecommuting in and of itself."

One way to look at the issue is this: rather than limiting work flex, working to understand how flexible work options can make our company more productive, efficient, and even happier might be a wiser use of your energy and talents as a leader in organization.

Remote-work options has been steadily rising. Technological advances such as digital whiteboards, videoconferencing, and collaboration and communication apps have allowed employees all over the world to work from anywhere at any time. As a result, whether they're in Istanbul or Indiana, more employees are working at home, on the train, at co-working spaces (think WeWork), or in coffee shops or restaurants.
