I think the board shouldn't approve of the residential project. First of all, tearing down the forest for building more houses is unfair for the ecological balance of the region. As it is, there have been many construction projects taking place by cutting down forests. there is absolutely no need to add another one to the list.
Secondly, the school will lose its soccer field due to the project. For the overall healthy growh of the students, it is essential to concentrate on their physical as well as mental health. getting rid of a faciltiy which provides the students with physical activity isn't a proper way to build residential houses. The school will also lose some of its students due to tearing down the soccer field.
The speeding problem, though, can be handled with proper road system and traffic management so that is not the main criterion for the refusal.
Overall, the lure of providing additional shoppers by building houses nearby is just that. A lure. and the board should not pay attention to such projects and instead should focus on the more important aspects of their jobs.
