Answer #1

Molecular formula C14H14N3SO3-Na+

Molar mass- 327g/mol (with sodium salt).

Color and form- Orange color solid

Yield- To be calculated from experimental data

H NMR data

7.79-7.72 ppm - protons (4H) of aromatic ring (attached with sulphonate structure) with multiplet signal

6.83 ppm - protons (4H) of aromatic ring (attached with dimethyl amine) with multiplet signal

3.05ppm - Protons of methyl group of dimethyl amine. for 6H and signal is singlet

C NMR data Carbon number of the structure indicated in front of values. There is no indication of methyl C in NMR data

152.6     C-IV            152.3 C-X

149.1     C-I          142.8 C-VII

126.5    C-II,VI            124.6 C-III,V

121     C-VIII,XII            111.6 C-IX,XI

Mass Data

m/z of 304.2 is for 4-{(4-dimethylamino)phenyldiazenyl}-benzenesulfonate ion (whole structure without sodium ion 327-23= 304)

m/z of 289 is for 4-{(4-methylamino)phenyldiazenyl}-benzenesulfonate ion (whole structure without sodium ion and one methyl group 327-23= 304-15= 289)

m/z= 156 is for benzenesulfonate ion (327-23= 304-148=156)

FTIR Data

3436 cm-1 is for secondary amine streaching peak

1608 cm-1 is the characteristic region peak for C=C aromatic bond

1193-1036 cm-1 is weak peak of bending vibrations of methyl group
