Answer #1

We can calculate the required values from both the graphs. However, given the option in the question, I am using the first plot here. Based on method 1, we already know that the slope of the plot will give us -\DeltaSosoln and the intercept will be \DeltaHosoln

We know that we can calculate a slope mathematically by (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1) where the y's are the two y-coordinates in the plot with the respective two x-coordinates.

We are not given the units of the axes of the plot thus we assume that the units are the required units with respect to the answer.

Slope = (8.5 - 7.0)/(288 - 342) = -0.028 units = -\DeltaSosoln thus, \DeltaSosoln = 0.028 units

If we extend the plot to intersect at the y-axis, we get the y-intercept thus the approximate value of \DeltaHosoln

\DeltaHosoln = 9 units.
