Answer #1

Answer;

1) a) this question simply is the one related to mole concept. Since 1 mole of CO2 means 44 g so 1.30 moles of it means 57.2 g

it is given in the question that 1 mole of glucose is utilised by the bacteria gives 1.30 moles (57.2g) of CO2 so 950 Kg of gas (let us assume it mainly consist of CO2 ) will require 16608.39 mole of glucose. And 1 mole of gluccose means 180 g of it so 16608.39 mole of glucose means 2989.5 Kg of it.

b) The percentaage of off-gases is 31.77%.

    1) In a batch culture, formic acid (HCOOH) is produced using bacteria. For each mole of glucose (C H206) utilized by the bacteria, 2.40 moles of cells (CH1.8000 1No.26), 1.70 moles of formic acid, 1.90 moles of gaseous CO2, and some H20 are formed. Oxygen (O2) and ammonia (NH3) were consumed. Glucose, ammonia and 18,350 kg of water were fed to the reactor and inoculated with the bacteria. Air is pumped into the reactor and during the entire process 6000...
